me

Monica Josette (she/her) is a graduate of Houston's HSPVA and the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Modern Dance Pedagogy. She is a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and Actors' Equity Association (AEA).
Recent credits include Associate Choreographer of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical (Theater Under the Stars and Pittsburgh Civil Opera); Choreographer for The Ensemble Theatre's The Tap Dance Kid and Akeelah and The Bee, plus TUTS' Cinderella, RENT, and Little Shop of Horrors. She has served as Associate Choreographer on profuctions of The Secret of My Success, Sweeney Todd, and Spamilton. Monica directed Je'Caryous Johnson's The Greatest Love Singer and was Choreographer for Superfreak: The Rick James Musical. At Stages Theater, she served as Director and Choreographer of Panto Pinocchio and most recently as Director/Choreographer of Lin-Manuel Miranda's 21 Chump Street.
Beyond theater, Monica was original co-choreographer and dancer for recording artist Santigold, and has toured and performed in over 40 countries worldwide.
Monica is co-founder of Beyond The Line, a dynamic culture-centered platform and anthropological cultural preservation archive that harmonizes arts, education, wellness, and community impact. She is also the Founder and Curator of The Magic of Movement, a wellness practice developed with a trauma psychiatrist that uses movement, somatic breathwork, and dance for pain and trauma release. She further serves as Program Director of the Summer Theater Arts Repertory for youth at the Edison Arts Foundation.
